"A 'bionic' leg designed for people who have lost a lower leg is undergoing clinical trials sponsored by the US Army. The researchers hope the leg will be able to learn the patient's nerve signal patterns and be able to move in response to the patient's own muscles and nerves (abstract). Electrodes are attached to nine muscles in the thigh to detect the patterns in which the nerve signals are fired. Different patterns correspond to different intended movements. In the current stages of training, the volunteers are wired up to the electrodes and learn how to use the muscles to make a computer avatar move on screen. Results showed that all the volunteers could control the avatar’s knee and ankle movements from neural information from the thigh, with amputees achieving 91 percent accuracy of movement and the non-amputees achieving 89 percent."

Study shows sensory feedback gives monkeys better control of computer cursors

Monkeys moved thought-controlled computer cursors more quickly and accurately when provided with additional sensory feedback, according to a new study in the Dec. 15 issue of The Journal of Neuroscience. While most brain-machine technologies rely only on visual feedback, this study demonstrated that these systems can be improved when users have additional input, such as a sense of the arm’s position and motion, a sensation known as proprioception.

With the aid of brain-controlled devices, paralyzed people have been able to send e-mail, play video games, and operate robotic arms. In this study, researchers led by Nicholas Hatsopoulos, PhD, of the University of Chicago, aimed to help further develop such machines for people who may still experience feeling in paralyzed limbs, including many patients with spinal cord injury and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

“Organisms use multiple senses, including sight and touch, as feedback to adjust motor behavior,” Hatsopoulos said. “The ability to feel movements of the limbs and body is critical for normal motor control. Loss of this sense results in movements that are slow, poorly coordinated, and require great concentration.”

The authors worked with two adult rhesus macaques to assess a system that incorporates a sense of movement. Each monkey was first trained to control a cursor using brain signals only; electrodes collected and processed data from the monkeys’ motor cortex cells and transmitted those commands to the computer. Basic science research has shown that simply thinking about a motion activates brain cells in the same way that making the movement does, so each monkey needed to only think about moving a cursor to do it.

The researchers equipped each animal with a robotic “sleeve” that fit over an arm. In the first part of the experiment, the monkeys controlled the cursor by simply looking at the computer screen. In the second part, the robotic device moved the monkey’s relaxed arm in tandem with the cursor movement, so the monkey could sense the cursor’s motion in time and space. The authors found when the monkeys had the extra sensation, the cursor hit the target faster and more directly. The results also showed increased movement-related information in the activity of motor cortex cells, compared with visual-only feedback.

Hatsopoulos said his group’s findings may pave the way for enhanced brain-controlled devices that include multiple forms of natural or even artificially produced sensory feedback. “Wearable exoskeletal robots could provide sensory information to patients with full or partial feeling,” he said. “Alternatively, direct stimulation of the relevant area of the cortex could be used to replicate sensory feedback in patients who have lost both motor and sensory function.”

The research was supported by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and the Paralyzed Veterans of America Research Foundation.

The Journal of Neuroscience is published by the Society for Neuroscience, an organization of more than 40,000 basic scientists and clinicians who study the brain and nervous system. Hatsopoulos can be reached at nicho@uchicago.edu.

As if there aren’t already enough people paranoid about the wholly automated process of serving up ads in your email inbox based on your email and on Facebook based on your FB profile, now it appears that Kinect may be using what it sees in your living room to send information to advertisers on what kinds of ads to serve up.
Speaking at an investor’s conference on Thursday, a Microsoft executive offered that Kinect not only knows how many are in the room when an ad’s shown, but what kind of team colors they might be wearing. Uh-oh.

Privacy concerns with the Kinect aren’t a new subject, of course. At the BMO Capital Markets forum, Dennis Durkin, the chief operating officer of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment division, offered that if someone were watching a sporting event with Kinect on (for example, ESPN’s new streaming service to the Xbox 360), Kinect could deduce what team they support based on what kind of jersey or colors they wore, and serve advertising tailored to that.

It isn’t much different than how Facebook or Google serves up ads in that it’s done automatically and it’s not information that someone’s sitting there reading manually and jotting down for future reference, but it is a little creepier since there is actual camera data there of you, your friends and the inside of your house.

Microsoft has denied that they’re using the data for this purpose at this time, but the potential is there, and that’s still a little bit unnerving.

Revolutionary eye implants have restored sight to the blind

By tucking high-tech implants inside people's eyes, researchers in Germany have given three blind people the ability to see.

The implants only work for those suffering from a hereditary condition called retinal dystrophy, which causes the eye's light receptors to degenerate. The implant is placed inside the rear wall of the eye, and completely replaces those lost receptors, while retaining the eye's original ability to interpret light, so it doesn't require additional processing.

So far, the device has been successfully implanted in three individuals. According to the researchers, one of them is now able to "identify and find objects placed on a table in front of him, as well as walking around a room independently and approaching people, reading a clock face and differentiating seven shades of grey."

The research was undertaken by the company Retinal Implant AG together with the Institute for Ophthalmic Research at the University of Tuebingen, and you can read the full scientific paper via Proceedings of the Royal Society B.

Mighty aerospace mammoth Boeing has made a late entry in the contest to supply the US Marines with robot helicopter supply skyhooks, able to move stuff in and out of isolated forward bases in Afghanistan without input from human operators.
At first sight, it would seem that Boeing's innovative A160T robocopter has been beaten by its rival, the unmanned K-MAX intermesh whirlybird from Lockheed and Kaman Aerospace.

Boeing says that the A160T was able to move only 2,500lb of cargo (between bases 75 nautical miles apart) in its allotted two round trips across a proving ground in Utah. The K-MAX, during its test runs (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/02/09/kaman_marines_supply_win_claim/) last month, managed 3,000lb.

Boeing are keen to point out, however, that their machine was able to hover with an underslung load of 1,250lb at 12,000 feet - presumably out of ground effect - which is impressive, and would be useful in the high altitudes of central Afghanistan.

Overall, though, the extra lifting ability of the K-MAX would seem to mean a win for Boeing's rivals. The K-MAX has other advantages, too - it has a nifty four-hook carousel, allowing the copter to drop off more than one load at preprogrammed locations before returning to home base. Furthermore, as a conversion from a manned design, it could presumably operate with a pilot aboard on occasion - useful for legal reasons in civil-controlled airspace.

The US Marines are keen to move forward with the idea of unmanned resupply, which would be a boon in Afghanistan. There's often a need to rush supplies - particularly ammo and batteries - into forward bases even while they're under heavy enemy fire, putting aircrews at severe risk and often necessitating heavy bombardment of the surrounding area to keep the Taliban's heads down and chopper crews safe.

Then, the aircrew themselves and their need for armour and so on use up significant amounts of a chopper's lifting capacity - and the requirement for in-theatre training and familiarisation with such things as night dust landings etc uses up lots of expensive flying hours.

Surface convoys are equally nightmarish and expensive in Afghanistan, with terrible roads, landmines, roadside bombs and ambushes all taking their toll and meaning a need for powerful escort forces and recovery vehicles to tow broken-down or shot-up ones out of trouble.

So the idea of unmanned, preprogrammed supply skyhooks is an attractive one. That said, the Marines' original "IMMEDIATE CARGO UNMANNED AERIAL SYSTEM" spec called for choppers able to shift a full 5,000lb across two 75-nm-out-and-back lifts - and neither team has achieved that. It may be that neither will be judged successful.

If one is, however, the Marines have indicated that they intend to have it in the air above Afghanistan by the end of the year.

I will not throw spoilers into this but the two episodes that stand out to me are "The Babysitter" and "Prototype" The artwork of "The Dual" is also done very well!

A California police department is testing a high-tech defense against one of the most pernicious weapons used against them in recent years: the video camera.

Ever since Rodney King was famously videotaped receiving what many saw as an over-the-top thrashing by Los Angeles lawmen back in 1991, video footage of alleged police misconduct has time and time again come back to haunt overzealous boys in blue.

And now, the same folks who enabled 2007's immortal "Don't tase me, bro! " video are leveling the playing field with a camera-computer combo known as the Taser Axon (http://www.taser.com/products/law/Pages/TASERAXON.aspx) - or, to use the less-subtle terminology of Taser International (http://www.taser.com/pages/default.aspx)'s marketeers, the "TASER® AXON™ ... a tactical networkable computer combining advanced audio-video record/capture capabilities worn by first responders" that's "designed for simple, easy operation even under extreme stress."

According to a report by the Associated Press, the system is now being tested by 18 police officers in San José, California. With it, an officer can record any activity just as he or she is viewing it simply by tapping a chest-mounted button.

After the officer calls it a day, the camera's controller (in uppercase Taserspeak, its AXON™ TACTICAL COMPUTER) is placed in a docking station (the SYNAPSE ETM - evidence transfer manager) back at the precinct house, where its data is offloaded to a secure server and it's recharged to fight again on the morrow for truth, justice, and the American way.

The evidentiary advantages of such a system are obvious, but its value to individual officers of the law is more immediate: "People have been using [video cameras] against us for years, unfortunately only for the bad stuff," one San José police officer told the AP, "So it'd be nice to show our view and our side of what's going on."

The weak link in the system is, of course, that chest-mounted on/off button. As Skyler Porras of the American Civil Liberties Union told the AP: "We need to know, 'Are officers turning video cameras on at the very beginning of an engagement with a resident?'"

If appropriate procedures are instituted and followed, Porras admits, the in-your-face cameras could find a place in law enforcement. "If they are used appropriately and with proper protocols in place," she opined, "they could be useful."

In San José, the department is taking no chances. Officers testing the system are required to turn it on whenever they approach a taxpayer, even during routine traffic stops.

Of course, the system could be modified to allow for always-on use - but doing so would flood the precinct with useless video, and the oversight situation would quickly deteriorate to the level of useless footage now clogging the UK's CCTV-cam system.

On 8 October an asteroid detonated high in the atmosphere above South Sulawesi, Indonesia, releasing about as much energy as 50,000 tons of TNT, according to a NASA estimate released on Friday. That's about three times more powerful than the atomic bomb that levelled Hiroshima, making it one of the largest asteroid explosions ever observed.

However, the blast caused no damage on the ground because of the high altitude, 15 to 20 kilometres above Earth's surface, says astronomer Peter Brown of the University of Western Ontario (UWO), Canada.

Brown and Elizabeth Silber, also of UWO, estimated the explosion energy from infrasound waves that rippled halfway around the world and were recorded by an international network of instruments that listens for nuclear explosions.

The explosion was heard by witnesses in Indonesia. Video images of the sky following the event show a dust trail characteristic of an exploding asteroid.

New Medical Marijuana Policy Issued

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration will not seek to arrest medical marijuana users and suppliers as long as they conform to state laws, under new policy guidelines to be sent to federal prosecutors Monday.

Two Justice Department officials described the new policy to The Associated Press, saying prosecutors will be told it is not a good use of their time to arrest people who use or provide medical marijuana in strict compliance with state laws.

The new policy is a significant departure from the Bush administration, which insisted it would continue to enforce federal anti-pot laws regardless of state codes.

Fourteen states allow some use of marijuana for medical purposes: Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.

California is unique among those for the widespread presence of dispensaries -- businesses that sell marijuana and even advertise their services. Colorado also has several dispensaries, and Rhode Island and New Mexico are in the process of licensing providers, according to the Marijuana Policy Project, a group that promotes the decriminalization of marijuana use.

Attorney General Eric Holder said in March that he wanted federal law enforcement officials to pursue those who violate both federal and state law, but it has not been clear how that goal would be put into practice.

A three-page memo spelling out the policy is expected to be sent Monday to federal prosecutors in the 14 states, and also to top officials at the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The memo, the officials said, emphasizes that prosecutors have wide discretion in choosing which cases to pursue, and says it is not a good use of federal manpower to prosecute those who are without a doubt in compliance with state law.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the legal guidance before it is issued.

''This is a major step forward,'' said Bruce Mirken, communications director for the Marijuana Policy Project. ''This change in policy moves the federal government dramatically toward respecting scientific and practical reality.''

At the same time, the officials said, the government will still prosecute those who use medical marijuana as a cover for other illegal activity. The memo particularly warns that some suspects may hide old-fashioned drug dealing or other crimes behind a medical marijuana business.

In particular, the memo urges prosecutors to pursue marijuana cases which involve violence, the illegal use of firearms, selling pot to minors, money laundering or other crimes.

And while the policy memo describes a change in priorities away from prosecuting medical marijuana cases, it does not rule out the possibility that the federal government could still prosecute someone whose activities are allowed under state law.

The memo, officials said, is designed to give a sense of prosecutorial priorities to U.S. Attorneys in the states that allow medical marijuana. It notes that pot sales in the United States are the largest source of money for violent Mexican drug cartels, but adds that federal law enforcement agencies have limited resources.

Medical marijuana advocates have been anxious to see exactly how the administration would implement candidate Barack Obama's repeated promises to change the policy in situations in which state laws allow the use of medical marijuana.

Shortly after Obama took office, DEA agents raided four dispensaries in Los Angeles, prompting confusion about the government's plans.

WOW!

Took @Hunkapillar to see The Surrogates yesterday and I will give them credit it is a top notch film, I was put off a bit by the clear choice of the actors to portray there Surry's as stiff and rather mechanical in there movements and they digitally printed Bruce Willis's face on a body double these things were a bit frustrating but all in all I was rather impressed. I was a bit worried when Disney first acquired the rights to the story because well it's Disney and they tend to soften things for the younger audience but they seem to have left Johnathan Mastow to his own when he adapted the screenplay. This film is fucking beautiful Sandbox FX, Brickyard VFX and I.L.M. worked wonders with the digital effects on this picture I must give them Mad Props!

Now this film is an adaption of a comic book written by Robert Venditti and published by Top Shelf Productions, it ran from July 05 to March 06 and was 5 issues long. The Surrogates: Flesh and Bone (a prequel) was published in July 2009

Obama wins 2009 Nobel Peace Prize

US President Barack Obama has been awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel Committee said he won it for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples".

The committee highlighted Mr Obama's efforts to support international bodies and promote nuclear disarmament.

Mr Obama's spokesman said the president was "humbled" to have won the prize. He said he woke Mr Obama up when he called with the news early on Friday.

There were a record 205 nominations for this year's peace prize. Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and Chinese dissident Hu Jia had been among the favourites.

The laureate - chosen by a five-member committee - wins a gold medal, a diploma and 10m Swedish kronor ($1.4m).

After all, the president has been in office for a little over eight months and he might hope to serve eight years. His ambition for a world free of nuclear weapons is one that is easier to declare than to achieve and a climate control agreement has yet to be reached.

Indeed, the citation indicates that it is President Obama's world view that attracted the Nobel committee - that diplomacy should be founded "on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population".

"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," the Norwegian committee said in a statement.

"His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population."

Asked why the prize had been awarded to Mr Obama less than a year after he took office, Nobel Committee head Thorbjoern Jagland said: "It was because we would like to support what he is trying to achieve".

NVIDIA is killing the GTX260, GTX275, and GTX285 with the GTX295 almost assured to follow as it (Nvidia: NVDA) abandons the high and mid range graphics card market. Due to a massive series of engineering failures, nearly all of the company’s product line is financially under water, and mismanagement seems to be killing the company.

Not even an hour after we laid out the financial woes surrounding the Nvidia GTX275 and GTX260, word reached us that they are dead. Normally, this would be an update to the original article, but this news has enough dire implications that it needs its own story. Nvidia is in desperate shape, whoop-ass has turned to ash, and the wagons can’t be circled any tighter.

Word from sources deep in the bowels of 2701 San Tomas Expressway tell us that the OEMs have been notified that the GTX285 is EOL’d, the GTX260 is EOL in November or December depending on a few extraneous issues, and the GTX275 will be EOL’d within 2 weeks. Can't go into great detail but the light of it is as follows ... I was in a meeting in which an individual owed some funds, he decided to pull a gun on my comrades and I and needless to say an intense few moments followed. With the help of another one of our compatriots who was just outside the door and a trusty tactical bucket the situation was put to a quick end with no loss of life, this is the first time I was presented with a situation in which I was about to charge a man with a gun pointed directly in my face ... at that moment I was just thinking about saving my friends and ending the situation, now that I have had a chance to think about it I would not change what I did the only thing I regret is not acting quicker...

I would like to congratulate Oakland ,CA for taking the first steps towards the full integration of this medicine into the current American system. The time has come for De-regulation and full legalization! I would like to use my medicine and not have to worry about being locked up for 15 years on a first offence! Now to the controversy, I will say that the Fans can dish it out but Fuck all if they can take it!

Brock has taken nothing but SHIT from the fans and from the "Experts" since he signed with

the UFC! I also think that he was correct in his poo pooing of the sponsor Bud Light who was

unwilling to work with the former WWE champ.

A great article was just written by CBS sports writer Denny Burkholder entitled

Lesnar's attitude not bad for sport ... just for opponent

I have included this article because I think that it is absolutely correct.

UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has been showered with criticism since the first day he arrived in the UFC. For a guy with his social aversions, it was bound to get under his skin eventually.

He flipped off the fans at UFC 100 in Las Vegas for booing him, talked smack to Frank Mir after beating him senseless and ran down a major UFC sponsor in his post-fight interview. Classy? No, not even close. But we all saw it coming.

Lesnar's not the first major UFC competitor to act like a cocky jerk, and he won't be the last. Remember Tito Ortiz? People hated him, too. And like Ortiz, something tells me Lesnar will be one of the UFC's biggest pay-per-view draws, as people will be more than willing to plunk down $50 for the chance, however slim, to see someone beat him.

The big difference between Ortiz and Lesnar is that Ortiz was cocky in an extroverted way, because he's a self-promoter who likes the attention. Lesnar is an introvert. He's the most talked-about fighter in the UFC, but he just wants to be left alone. He's an irritable guy. For God's sake, he tried to walk out on the UFC 100 prefight press conference, and nobody had even said anything bad about him yet. Dana White had to tell him to sit down. This guy does not enjoy social gatherings, especially when he's expected to participate and play nice.

Tito Ortiz wanted to command your attention; Lesnar just wants you to go away -- especially if you don't have anything nice to say about him.

MMA purists laughed when he came to the promotion with a 1-0 record in 2008 and a well-known past as a pro wrestler with WWE. Before he ever set foot in the Octagon with Frank Mir in early 2008, he was doomed to be lambasted by critics afterward. If he lost to Mir, he would be written off as a joke. If he beat Mir, he would be viewed as an embarrassment to the sport, since a "fake" wrestler could never, ever become a legit fighter. Could he?

Lesnar says he doesn't care what people think, but he does. You could see it on Saturday, even while he fought. He would pin Mir to the mat. The audience would get on his case for stalling. He'd punch Mir as hard as he could in the face until they shut up. Every time he got booed, Lesnar took it out on Mir's skull.

Eventually, his gigantic paws had smacked Mir enough times that Mir covered up, and the fight was waved off. Mir's face was a mess afterward. Lesnar's still not the perfect MMA fighter -- few guys are -- but he's good enough. To his critics, that's part of the problem. They know he can't execute an omoplata, but he wins anyway. It drives purists crazy that this guy is making such quick work of respected MMA fighters like Mir and Randy Couture.

As Mir staggered to his feet after the loss on Saturday, Lesnar took a victory lap around the cage. Then he circled back to Mir, who appeared ready to congratulate Lesnar and accept a pat on the back for a good fight. That's what usually happens after a UFC fighter finishes his opponent and then walks up to him afterward. It's a sign of good sportsmanship, a show of respect.

Not this time, apparently. Lesnar angrily barked something in Mir's face that was hostile enough for a swarm of suited officials to quickly get between them and move the champ to the other side of the cage. ("Talk all the s--- you want, now," was Lesnar's comment to Mir according to UFC play-by-play man Mike Goldberg.)

That earned Lesnar a chorus of boos from the fans at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. He responded with a double-bird salute to the audience that just paid big bucks to watch him mutilate Mir.

As Joe Rogan went to interview him, the crowd booed even louder than the first time. Lesnar smiled and gestured for more noise.

"I love it! Keep going! Keep going! I love it, man!"

Rogan asked Lesnar why he was still so angry at Mir, considering he won the fight.

"Frank Mir had a horseshoe up his ass," Lesnar smirked. "I told him that a year ago. I pulled that sumbitch out and I beat him over the head with it. Whoo!"

Lesnar then turned his verbal attack to another, unexpected target in major UFC sponsor Bud Light. He pointed at the Bud logo on the Octagon canvas and defiantly told fans about his plans for the rest of the evening.

"I'm gonna drink a Coors Light," he said, emphasizing the word Coors. "That's a Coors Light, because Bud Light won't pay me nothin'."

He parted by telling the fans he might even get frisky with his wife later on, and left the cage with the UFC heavyweight belt strapped around his waist. Online, MMA critics and fans on Twitter were declaring Lesnar's words and actions offensive. Well, except for one pretty famous guy.

Mark Cuban Twittered away on Saturday night, clearly very entertained by the action he watched at UFC 100. The thing he loved the most, it seemed, was Brock Lesnar's post-fight behavior.

"lesnar post fight speech prob best ever in all sports," Cuban tweeted.

"he is going to drink a coors lite because bud won't pay him anything...hysterical," Cuban added seconds later.

There's a moral to the story, here. Unlike Tito Ortiz in his heyday, Lesnar may not willingly be playing the villain when he acts up. It might just be a natural reaction from an introverted guy who hates criticism and responds to it by celebrating his victories a little too much.

Whatever the reason for Lesnar's attitude, it's not the end of the world. If Ortiz and Tank Abbott didn't kill MMA, Lesnar certainly isn't going to either. He might be a jerk now and then, but so are many athletes. It's not even exclusive to MMA. So to those who are crying that Lesnar is bad for the sport, I say, relax and enjoy the show. Someday, Lesnar will get beat, and he'll learn to be a little more humble. Until then, direct your venom to a more worthy cause, like dangerous cheap shots after the buzzer or vicious elbows to a clearly unconscious opponent.

You know, like Dan Henderson landed on Michael Bisping on Saturday. Well-respected, soft-spoken Dan Henderson not only took a measured cheap shot on a motionless opponent, but he largely got away with it, uncriticized. Sure, the ref could have stopped it earlier. But Henderson's been around MMA forever. You think he didn't know Bisping was out cold?

Henderson, like Lesnar, may have simply been acting on adrenaline. Deep down, I don't think either is a terrible person at heart. They're just human beings who get carried away sometimes.

So why does Lesnar catch all the heat while others escape it? Is it just the WWE thing?

she did a great job playing a Watcher class (She gets glances of the future) this Film reminded

me a lot of CyberGen (RPG published by R. Talsorian)

I like the way that the powers were presented, they were not to over the top they were used to

help the story along but were not shoved in your face. This combined with a good story and a

great backdrop (Hong Kong) made for a very enjoyable hour and fifty one minutes of cinema!

Wow so yah I've been in the midst of a bad insomnia spell for about 5 months now, it started when I was down sized

from Great Basin Internet. I'm to the point I I'm sleeping in 15 minute intervals when not using Medication to sleep,

this is by far the worst I've experienced in a long time lol. I just have to power through it as best I can till

I can afford to go to the DR. It is kinda cool tho I sleep for like 15 min and it feels like I've slept for a full 8 hrs. I have to concentrate and make sure that it doesn't start to effect my personal

relationships, this is a big concern to me due to the fact that I am already fighting the side effects of all of the pain killers I have to take just to function.

Here's something that people with poor or no vision will be excited about: three patients had their sight restored in less than a month by contact lenses cultured with stem cells.

All three patients were blind in one eye. The researchers extracted stem cells from their working eyes, cultured them in contact lenses for 10 days, and gave them to the patients. Within 10 to 14 days of use, the stem cells began recolonizing and repairing the cornea.
Of the three patients, two were legally blind but can now read the big letters on an eye chart, while the third, who could previously read the top few rows of the chart, is now able to pass the vision test for a driver's license. The research team isn't getting over excited, still remaining unsure as to whether the correction will remain stable, but the fact that the three test patients have been enjoying restored sight for the last 18 months is definitely encouraging. The simplicity and low cost of the technique also means that it could be carried out in poorer countries.
This is incredible and potentially game changing. It's stuff like this that makes you realize that we live in the future, and it's awesome. (Via Gizmodo)
